Automation Intern
June 2023 • Mahwah, NJ
What I liked
I liked the onboarding process I got to learn what tools we use and how we use them in a timely and digestible manner.
What I wish was different
I wish it was more specific on to which department I am going into, for example I got into storage solutions, but the posting was very vague and just said IT Intern.
Advice
I'd say to ask a lot of questions and get into as many one on ones as possible. Just to learn and if you can grab the lead of your team then that would be ideal. Working closely with an architect leader would also be great. But in general, asking questions and keeping in the mindset that you are here to learn, and to learn as much as possible.

Loader
July - August 2022 • Columbus, OH
What I liked
Relaxed work environment, and a somewhat enjoyable job for those who like physical activity. Shifts went by quickly because you could listen to music and for the most part were left alone to your trailers for the majority of your shift.
What I wish was different
Was moved a couple times to work as a floor sweep even though that wasn't really my hired position. Working as a floor sweep was more strenuous for me than being a loader, but I understand the move for a couple days because it was Amazon Prime Week and the warehouse was especially busy.
Advice
If you can make it past the first two weeks then the job is probably a decent fit for you.

Pre-Loader
June 2020 • Middleton, WI
What I liked
It's a fast paced job that always keeps you moving and on your feet. While the hours vary weekly, you know you only work 5 scheduled days a week (Tues-Sat), can choose to work in the morning or evening shift when being hired, and as a part timer, for every hour over five hours you make time and a half. This meant that during peak season I was able to earn about an extra $100 a day because you would work a full 8 hours.
What I wish was different
It can be strenuous on the body and you do have to realize that sleep is important, but because of the hours and varying start times you may find you have to miss out on fun events to ensure you are comfortable at work. Drinking lots of water is also super important, so they do encourage avoiding caffeine!
Advice
If you would like to be paid to work out, this is definitely an experience I would recommend! Moreover, for college students, if you work for UPS (there is also a Rockford location) you can get up to $5,200 annually in student aid from UPS by applying.
