Technology Consultant Intern
June - August 2019 • Arlington County, VA
What I liked
Loved being able to work with a numerous employees ranging from other interns all the way up to senior managers and partners. My experience allowed me to gain a good idea of what to expect if I was to work full-time at the firm and helped me learn numerous skills that I can apply in my last year of classes.
What I wish was different
For the return offer, you must respond fairly quickly about whether you want to take the offer or not. This makes it difficult for you to explore other firms and jobs during your final year of school.
Advice
Recommend networking and meeting firm employees as much as possible! If you are interested in a certain field of work, make that known and speak to staff currently working in that field so that they can help you do work in that same area. Your experience is what you make it.

What I liked
It was great to experience a rotational internship in order to compare two different paths of accounting. Learning the culture of Deloitte was amazing.
What I wish was different
The summer is slower, so I don't feel like a got to see as big of a picture as I would've if it had been at another time of the year. However, summer was the most convenient time so I still wouldn't change it.

Ask all the questions you can!

Data Analytics Intern

What I liked
Incredible company that invests a lot in its people. The training was incredibly extensive and they even sent all of the interns down to Deloitte University for a weekend. My entire team really took an interest in my project and went out of their way to help me and teach me the necessary skills I needed to learn. The people are all incredibly friendly.
What I wish was different
Nothing. Had a fantastic experience
Advice
Deloitte is a huge company working on a variety of different projects. Try to learn as much about the company as possible by reaching out to people in different departments.

Audit and Assurance Intern
June - August 2019 • New York City, NY
What I liked
Deloitte really cherishes its people. Aside from promoting work-life balance, it makes sure to present each employee (including interns) with many opportunities for growth both as a professional in the firm and as a leader in general.
What I wish was different
I wish the internship lasted longer -- I had way too much fun last summer.
Advice
Although technical expertise does come as a plus, I would first focus on building a network both within the firm and the industry as a whole. My most valuable takeaways from the summer lie in the connections I have made.

Risk and Financial Advisory
June - July 2019 • McLean, VA
What I liked
I loved the culture of Deloitte and the entrepreneurial mindset the firm instills in their new hires/interns. Overall, I learned a lot and was able to use both my IS and Finance background on the project I was assigned.
What I wish was different
I have absolutely no complaints and wouldn't change any aspect of the internship. The Internship program Deloitte has in place is really well managed and sets students up for future success.
Advice
Focus on School! GPA really does matter and paying attention in higher level courses will definitely be beneficial regardless of what you do after graduation. Specifically in my case, I was able to apply my knowledge of critical thinking and analytical skills I learned through various courses offered at VCU.

What I liked
All of our sessions were very interactive and I was grouped with other students that attend college in Atlanta so I can maintain contact with my team.
What I wish was different
I wish that DNLC was longer than a weekend because I had a great time.
Advice
Start doing case interview prep more than a month before your interview. Studying for case interviews a little bit at a time over a long period of time is much more helpful than cramming right before your interview.
