Tax Accountant

June - August 2018 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I loved the people and the area. It was an overall great experience and I am excited to go back.

What I wish was different

I wish I had talked to all the levels at the firm more. I had a lot of time with the TC1s and Senior managers and hardly any with the seniors.

Advice

Take advantage of all work given and always say yes because you need the exposure to know if you want to come back or not.

Strategy Intern

May - July 2018 • Vienna, Austria

What I liked

I had my own project that I was working on, while I was included in team meetings and had a close relationship to my co-workers, even outside the office. During my project, I got frequent input from the responsible partner and shared a good rapport with him.

What I wish was different

I thought it would have been an interesting experience to enjoy the classical strategy experience, working directly at the clients office, but this way, I got insight into multiple projects and learnt how the organisation better, so both sides have their pro and con.

Advice

I'd say it is important to quickly learn new things and being eager to learn. For me, it was also really helpful to be outgoing and trying to get integrated into the team quickly. Thus, team members were more willing to share their knowledge and lunch breaks were far more enjoyable.

Audit & Assurance Intern

June - August 2018 • Los Angeles, CA

What I liked

Coming back for my second internship with Deloitte, I really liked going back to Deloitte University because I was able to reconnect, build, and expand my network of students and professionals. I also enjoyed experiencing a two-week rotation in Deloitte's Mergers and Acquisitions Advisory practice. My internship with Deloitte taught me the importance of building your network and technical skills to use as a leverage to be a part of the projects and clients you want to be a part of .

What I wish was different

While I had great experiences in a financial services client and a consumer business client, I wish that I had been able to rotate onto a technology, media, and telecommunications client. The reason I wish this had been different is that I wanted to gain insight on as many of Deloitte's different types of business clients. I believe that knowing early on which industry I want to work on can help me hone in on key skills for that type of client.

Advice

As an intern, if you've never met someone before in the breakroom, social event, professional setting, or anywhere that's related to your internship, introduce yourself and be curious.

Business Technology Analyst Summer Scholar

May - August 2017 • Philadelphia, PA

What I liked

I really enjoyed Deloitte's professional-yet-relaxed corporate culture and their dedication to work-life balance. It was always fun and easy to meet new people and build relationships throughout the company whether I was at my client site, my home office in Philadelphia, or at internal networking events. I met some great people who I look forward to working with next year. Additionally, and I know it might be minor, but I was always happy with the speed and clarity of Deloitte's travel arrangements and reimbursements.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I don't think I'd change anything about my experience. I wish I didn't have to come back to school.

Advice

Work hard and remember to build relationships with the people around you. If you find yourself with some free time, always ask if there's something else you can help someone with.

Auditing Intern

July 2020 • Buffalo, NY

What I liked

Deloitte Buffalo is an office that truly cares about their interns and wants to see them succeed. This internship gave me more insight into the accounting world than any class at school ever did. Engagement with the interns ranged from partners to first year staff. I felt I received a very accurate and honest representation of the culture at Deloitte and what it is like to work there. They encouraged the interns to dive right into the work and ask all the questions you could think of. Overall it was a great experience and I am so excited to joint hem full time!
