What I liked
I have loved the culture of Avery Dennison. Everyone here, from all departments, in all positions, truly want to help you to succeed. The HR team responsible for the Summer Internship Program takes their jobs very seriously and push you to explore the company and make lasting connections with a variety of people in various roles. I also really appreciate the structure of the Summer Internship Program and Early Career Program here at AD. You are really pushed outside of your comfort zone to try and learn new things, while also having a safety net of mentors and other support if you need it.
As for my role as an R&D Intern, I appreciate that the work I am doing doesn't feel empty. Sometimes in summer internships, it can feel like the work assigned is just busy work or work that you got it because no one else wanted to do it. When I was given my projects for the summer, their purpose was clearly defined. The applications of the data I collected were also clearly described to me so I know that the work I am doing has value to my team.
