Summer 2026 You Belong Intern

The You Belong intern will partner with the D&I Officer to create and establish employee resources to promote inclusion and belonging in the workplace. The day-to-day responsibilities include brainstorming communications, planning and executing training and analyzing data. The You Belong intern is also responsible for leading the annual DEiB summer project.

 

 

Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real-world environment for our interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and their peers, Achieve their personal goals and Develop their skills and knowledge base. We pride ourselves in providing innovative programs for our interns in order for them to learn and grow they progress through their careers. Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business! Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio. 

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Shadow D&I Officer in meetings with community groups, networking connections, and monthly Sr. Leadership planning meetings.
  • Coordinate engaging, educational content/activities for the UHM Networks (Young Professional, Women, Multi-Cultural), to include collaborating with Partner (employee) members and various departments.
  • Prepare communications and coordinate contacts, including but not limited to; welcome notices, experience surveys, exit interviews to be sent to UHM partners.
  • Collaborate with the Campus Recruiters for on-campus fairs and other events with student organizations to aid in recruiting diverse students into the UHM Internship program.
  • Create content for the You Belong department to be shared on internal platforms.
  • Manage month over month demographics for existing, hired and terminated partners including but not limited to, collecting missing demographic data to enter into HR system and running reports/sorting data.

Qualifications

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and think independently
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Event planning skills
  • Candidate must be enthusiastic, a self-starter, have the ability to work in a group or independently and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE 

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Business, Legal Studies, Marketing, Global/Cultural Studies or a related field.
  • Sophomore, Junior or Senior Standing
  • Experience in research, planning and execution of DEIB initiatives preferred
