Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits

Commercial Finance Intern

June - August 2024 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

The culture at this company is what brought me here! Everyone is so nice and helpful and willing to talk about their careers. The atmosphere is great and the work-life balance is amazing. I learned so much being the only intern in the office and got a lot of one-on-one attention and help when needed. This is a fast-paced learning experience and I would recommend to anyone interested in finance and supply chain.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten more time there since it was based on the semester school system!

Advice

You need to be very comfortable and know your way around excel!

What I wish was different

More structure throughout the summer to have consistent work to be done (there was a lot of downtime at points)

You will most likely end up presenting to senior leadership in your designated area of work (HR, Sales, IT, etc). Make sure you take time to rehears your presentations and be prepared for questions!!

Payroll & Benefits Clerk

July - August 2019 • Miramar, FL

What I liked

I loved working for a company that treats their employees with such respect and appreciation. Being there for two months, I was welcomed with open arms and went off leaving others in tears. Being able to make an immediate impact for my team was also something that was amazing. Many companies slowly ease interns/summer clerks into their positions. I was able to use some advanced software to complete my tasks right from the start.

What I wish was different

I do not have any critiques to the way my department was run. Everything was extremely efficient and I really enjoyed the amount of collaboration we constantly utilized.

Advice

Be ready to learn a lot in a short period! I like to think I was a sponge. Working for such a large corporation and the largest alcohol distributor in North America has its demands. I really feel like I had a purpose with the company and really appreciate the opportunity to come back!
