What I liked

Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. They all showed what you would need to learn and what you would need to do.

Advice

Always ask questions and just get to know everyone because it will help through the journey of the intern.

Product Management Intern

May - August 2019 • Mansfield, TX

What I liked

I liked the experience I gained from sitting in on meetings, creating presentations for suppliers, visiting the corporate office, and having people to go to to ask questions during my time interning for Klein Tools.

What I wish was different

I wish as interns we had more of a structure. We found ourselves trying to fill up free time in our day and with more of a schedule / tasks given I feel like that could've been avoided.

Advice

Klein Tools was a great place to intern for. I genuinely enjoyed my time there learning from people with such broad professional experience. The beginning of the summer was filled with a lot of projects and observing meetings. I feel like the things I learned in the classroom were really put to the test in this internship. It's one thing sitting in a classroom learning but it's another to actually use those skills. I learned alot of new workplace concepts and got great advice and tips from the people working there.

Mechanical Engineer

September 2018 • Lincolnshire, IL

What I liked

Great company that really.makes you feel important. The job includes a lot of different tasks and is not monotonous. There is some pressure to meet product deadlines and such, but the team is always willing to help out.

What I wish was different

The location is kind of awkward, since it's fairly far north, and surrounded by relatively expensive suburbs.

Advice

Make sure you enjoy engineering thinking. That's what companies like Klein want to see. Don't show them you did the math, show them why you did it and what it will show you. Also, show them how you'll make them money.
