Fast Enterprises, LLC

Implementation Consultant

June - August 2024 • Helena, MT

What I liked

My coworkers were very kind and intelligent, they helped me with many of my questions and projects which was enjoyable. FAST also takes care of relocation and housing which is nice.

What I wish was different

There is very little skill you build in this position that can be transferred to your next employer which is unfortunate. The work you do can be extremely bland as well. You work in an extremely proprietary, hard-to-navigate, system in an on-site environment each day usually from an old government building with no natural light.

Advice

If you enjoy learning software systems in depth or love government work, this could be a very good role for which you will be relocated to basically anywhere in the US and be compensated accordingly. If you are a hard-core developer or want to work on more transferable software, this would not be a good fit.

Software Developer Intern

May - August 2019 • Baton Rouge, LA

What I liked

The company values their employees so they paid for my summer housing and my ticket to fly to the location. Also the company culture is very inviting. Once I got there I was invited to multiple different events that employees put on.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been given more code to write. Some interns got very lucky and were stationed at HQ and spent each day doing code. While others - like the interns at my site - got to do a lot of debugging but not actually writing any code.

Advice

I worked in the Department of Revenue, so every day I wore skirts, blouses, or slacks, so it is a very formal dress attire. The on boarding process is also a lot grunt work to learn about the site and get used to all of their terminology and software tools.

Implementation Consultant

May - August 2018 • Helena, MT

What I liked

The company has amazing management, an excellent track record, and the opportunity for varied experience within the same role. I was given meaningful projects from day one that directly impacted the client. I also had good mentors and a support network so I had plenty of resources to succeed.

What I wish was different

Although I did have several different projects to work on, I could have taken on one or two more to add variety to the work I performed.

Advice

I would definitely take this job if you enjoy searching for meaning in data, working with others, and don't mind not having as much direct coding work as other jobs (although there is still opportunity for some coding if you would like).
