Costume P.A.
June - July 2019 • New Orleans, LA
What I liked
I enjoy fashion and want a career in film, so working in both worlds was very fun and intriguing for me. My favorite thing was being able to go in the mall and run returns once we were out of preparation for filming was coming to a close. Since it was a smaller crew for a pilot, I was able to closer connect with my fellow employees and network while getting paid!
What I wish was different
The hours were different every day, and I would have rathered a more concrete schedule, however I knew going into the job that this would be the case so no real complaints.
Advice
Wear comfortable shoes! Whether it's running around the main production office to running around stores in the city, you will always be moving. Plan lunch ahead of time and choose somewhere you can eat quick or on the road.

Human Resources Communications and Marketing Intern
February - August 2017 • Los Angeles, CA
What I liked
I gained diverse and impactful experiences and skills that have informed my pursuit of a career. I also had the opportunity to meet so many talented individuals and make lasting connections that have both have the potential to further me professionally and personally. There were also various perks to working for the global brand that were both fun and helpful with networking. I was also able to continue the internship in New York City after leaving Los Angeles, where I was studying "abroad," which gave me the opportunity to meet new people, see both offices, and ascertain the differences in how the different locations function.
What I wish was different
My experience was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone was very kind and helpful and I ran into little to no issues working for the company.
Advice
Take initiative and do not wait to be given work. Be proactive and ask to help, so you can not only demonstrate more skills but your ability to communicate and collaborate.
Put forth effort that extends beyond what is required. When you only do what is asked of you, you are usually doing what other people can do just as well. Put your unique talents into the work you are given and represent your abilities that expand beyond the minimum requirement.
Be friendly and gracious. A smile, compliment, or thank you note can go along way and are often the cornerstone to building a lasting connection.

What I liked
Free pass to Disneyland all Summer! The people are great and they have intern events throughout the internship.
What I wish was different
It may have been due to the shifts in the department I was working in, but they were not as organized with intern projects as I would have preferred.
Advice
Don't be afraid to talk to different people all around the company! It is an exciting opportunity to hear about the hundreds of different roles within the Walt Disney Company.
