City of Minneapolis

Environmental Tec

May - August 2019 • Minneapolis, MN

What I liked

The people in the health department are awesome, and the field experience will be integral to my success in the future. During this job, I tested Mississippi River water quality, did Erosion Control, Air Quality, Noise Pollution, and Land Pollution Inspections. I also got certifications in Defensive Driving (which may lower insurance costs), HAZMAT, and more. The best part of this experience, however, was the Networking opportunity this offered. This position allows access with contractors, politicians, local government department heads, scientists, diverse communities, among many others.

What I wish was different

I thoroughly enjoyed this experience, im not sure I would have wanted anything to be different.

What I liked

We were treated like employees and the people that worked at the city really viewed us as valuable. It was amazing because they didn't have us doing normal meaningless intern work. We were doing important projects that allowed us to gain real experience.
