The experience with the children changed my life. It completely changed my perspective on those who experience Autism and the way that we should approach them in terms of education.
Everyone I had talked to was so friendly and were happily willing to share their story leading up to working at the Child Guidance Resource Center. I learned so much about the different avenues in the field of psychology because of them and it honestly reinvigorated my motivation in pursuing this field.
What I wish was different
I wish they had given more responsibilities to me. My biggest task was being able to record behavioral analysis sheets while also interacting and effectively monitor desired behaviors throughout the week.
However that was the most pressing task, and I wish there was more like it during this experience.
Advice
Be ready to converse and get to know the children. They are so fun to communicate with and they are so active that it is imperative that you keep up with them.
Each and every child has different strengths and weaknesses so it's very important that you try to cater to each child when appropriate.
