What I liked

I had the opportunity to work in a full time position in the financial industry. I gained valuable experience and had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people. There were also lots of opportunities to get to know the other interns from other departments.

What I wish was different

Advice

Work hard and take advantage of as many opportunities as you can. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and make the most of your time there. Get to know your coworkers and other interns because that will make your summer experience much more enjoyable.

What I liked

The atmosphere was a lot of fun and so were the people at Athene.

What I wish was different

I wasn't really assigned a project as I was told I would be during the interview. And the job description is very much an umbrella for a bunch of different things. This didn't play out in my favor as some of the assigned responsibilities I was given weren't exactly what I was expecting.

Advice

Make sure you clarify with you manager what your responsibilities will be on your team. Also don't be afraid to ask other departments to sit in with them.

What I liked

At Athene I was given a project to work on all summer. The company is fast-paced, so I was busy but not overwhelmed for the most part. They also had amazing intern events both during and outside of the workday, so I got to meet people from different teams and worked with interns from different departments.

What I wish was different

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Athene. I don’t think I would have changed anything about my experience there.

Advice

I would recommend interns to take advantage of the paid housing opportunity. I became a lot closer with my fellow interns and was even able to study with my roommate for an actuarial exam.
