Technology Intern

What I liked

I was able to explore some different aspects of my major and learn how to effectively coordinate with other departments within a company environment. I got to talk to vendors, manufacturers, field technicians, and installers, giving me a great understanding of the relationships from the development of a product to its installation.

What I wish was different

I had little to no bad experiences during my summer at EGD. If there was one thing, my department was a bit understaffed, and I actually ended up working some overtime to help the full time employees keep up with production. I enjoyed this work, but felt I could have spent more time learning if the department had been adequately staffed.

Advice

Make sure you get to know your supervisors and try to meet the leaders of the departments at a company. They can share their experiences with you and have already established networks through their careers. They will be valuable resources when you graduate and are looking for a full time position and need references or leads on jobs.
