Core Tax Intern
June - August 2023 • Washington, DC
What I liked
Excellent company culture and client work dynamics, if you're interested in working in tax as an accountant I would highly suggest A&M. In terms of learning and experience, A&M is unrivaled as interns are just first-year associates as far as work goes and you get put onto clients where I was completing their tax returns from start to finish and then receiving feedback from the senior associate on my client who happily would work with me one-on-one to help me with more difficult / new types of situations and explain things I was confused about. Its a super welcoming and positive environment where people genuinely enjoy what they do (which I would assume is rare in tax as even I am aware that tax is objectively not exciting)
What I wish was different
Onesource was the system we used to complete tax returns. Navigating the system is a big learning curve, I think spending a portion of one of the orientation days in the beginning just going through how to navigate and use Onesource would have been beneficial. (I apologise for the lack of grammar, I have very little time to write this)
Advice
Pay attention in your tax classes as my studying and efforts in my own tax classes very much paid off at this internship.

Consulting Intern
May - August 2020 • Chicago, IL
What I liked
I loved the team that I worked with. Everyone was very smart and I felt that every single day I learned something new. I was able to gain real world experience on an actual client. I gained invaluable knowledge about the processes of working for a client.
What I wish was different
Obviously COVID-19 has been an issue for all employers, but I would've loved to work alongside my team in person. Nevertheless I learned so much from every team member.
Advice
There is no traffic on the extra mile. A&M values their interns doing more than what they are asked to do. Make sure that all the tasks that are handed to you is completed at the best of your ability. They want you to learn, so don't be afraid to make mistakes.
