Digital Marketing Associate

Job Title: Digital Marketing Associate
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Director of Marketing
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Location: Tampa, FL (on-site)

 

Schedule & Compensation

  • Hourly wage: $25.44/hour (equivalent to $52,915 annually)
  • Full-time, on-site position with occasional evening or weekend work for special events 
  • Standard office hours with some flexibility 
  • Includes professional development opportunities and mentorship within the marketing team

 

Position Summary
We’re seeking a Digital Marketing Associate to help grow and strengthen our museum’s digital presence. This position supports the Marketing Department by creating, publishing, and analyzing content across the museum’s website, email platform, and social media channels.

The ideal candidate has a working knowledge of digital marketing tools and principles. They are comfortable writing and editing content, using digital platforms to engage audiences, and making data-informed decisions. This role requires someone who brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in storytelling that supports the museum’s mission: discovering, preserving, and learning from our region’s past to inform our common future.

This is a collaborative, hands-on position with room to contribute ideas, develop new skills, and help improve how the museum connects with the public online.

 

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Digital Storytelling

  • Write and schedule content for the museum’s digital platforms using current best practices
  • Capture and edit short-form video and photo content for use across multiple platforms
  • Select images and headlines that support content goals and reflect brand voice
  • Ensure all content meets accessibility standards and displays properly on different screen sizes
  • Craft messages that tell clear, engaging stories and align with the museum’s mission and brand

Email & Website Coordination

  • Build and send email campaigns using the museum’s email platform
  • Update website content through a content management system (CMS)
  • Post program and event listings to third-party community calendars
  • Help improve the readability and structure of digital content for mobile users

Analytics & Content Optimization

  • Monitor digital performance using available analytics tools and dashboards
  • Identify trends in engagement and suggest ways to improve content effectiveness
  • Assist with evaluating the impact of digital campaigns, including advertising spend
  • Help adjust strategies based on what the data shows about audience behavior and response

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Coordinate with multiple departments to manage incoming content requests
  • Ask clarifying questions to understand the purpose, audience, and goals for content
  • Balance competing deadlines and priorities with professionalism and good judgment
  • Contribute to marketing meetings and planning discussions

 

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or a related field (internships and freelance work are welcome)
  • Experience with digital content creation, social media platforms, and email tools
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Working knowledge of content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar)
  • Basic understanding of image quality, design principles, and accessibility best practices
  • Ability to organize tasks, manage timelines, and adapt to changing needs
  • Ability to analyze digital performance data and make informed recommendations

Preferred

  • Experience with short-form video production and editing
  • Familiarity with analytics and tracking tools
  • Understanding of nonprofit communication and community outreach
  • Awareness of trends in digital engagement and online audience development
