Preschool Teacher Position
The Hanna Perkins School is accepting applications for a teaching position in the Hanna Perkins Preschool. This will be a great learning opportunity for a person who is in the early stages of a teaching career.
Responsibilities: The teacher will be responsible for working together with the current Preschool Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a classroom of no more than 15 students. The teacher will also work cooperatively with child therapists and parents to individualize educational expectations, approaches, and interventions according to the specific needs of each child.
Learning Opportunity: The teacher will be introduced to the Hanna Perkins School’s unique approach to supporting the emotional development of children through mentoring by a seasoned consultant and an experienced teacher, through attendance at in-service trainings, and through meetings with therapists. The Hanna Perkins approach, utilized for over 60 years, involves teamwork between parents, teachers and child therapists aimed at providing each child the foundation they need to master life's challenges. Understandings of the importance of relationships, the inner life of children, and behaviors as communications of feelings guide the work.
Time Commitment & Salary:
August 25, 2025 – June 5, 2026
Forty hours per week, 8:00-4:00 Monday-Friday (with class time 9:00-1:00)
Salary negotiated, full benefits included
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate for the Teacher position will have or be working towards a degree in early childhood or special education, an Ohio teaching license, some previous experience teaching Preschool, a strong interest in learning about the emotional life of children, and a natural empathy and pleasure in working with young children and their parents.
