JOB TITLE: Elementary Assistant Principal and MTSS Coordinator
JOB BRIEF:
- To assist and support in the daily operation of the school by guiding and supporting the implementation and organization of MTSS protocols, while also providing behavioral and social-emotional learning supports for students.
LOCATION: Frank Bergman Elementary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Kansas Teaching License.
- Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Building Leadership License preferred.
- Experience working within a school setting as a teacher, counselor, social worker, administrator, school psychologist, or other professional licensed in a relatable field.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support MTSS Implementation?– Design, guide, and monitor building MTSS plans, frameworks, and Tier II/III interventions for academic and behavioral needs.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making?– Conduct universal screenings, progress monitoring, and student data analysis to guide instructional decisions and intervention strategies.
- Instructional Leadership?– Support teachers through modeling, observing, coaching, and facilitating reflection to enhance instructional practices.
- Staff Development?– Help lead professional development initiatives, co-plan meetings, and support in-service training aligned with instructional and MTSS goals.
- Supervision and Evaluation?– Assist in hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff including lunch aides, interventionists, and other support personnel.
- Student Supervision?– Coordinate and supervise student activities including bus transitions, breakfast, and lunchroom environments.
- Behavior and Conflict Management?– Apply behavior strategies and conflict resolution techniques to support a positive school climate.
- Collaborative Engagement?– Build strong relationships and collaborate with staff, families, and stakeholders to support student success.
- Communication Skills?– Effectively communicate with a diverse population of students, staff, and families to share progress and address concerns.
- Organizational Skills?– Maintain accurate records, manage detailed data, and adapt to changing work priorities.
- General School Support?– Assist with assessments, attend school functions, and carry out other duties as assigned by administration.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
- Full time school year position.
- Based on Salary Schedule.
- Salary Schedule 2024-2025
- 2025-2026 Salary yet to be established.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal.

- USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
- KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.
TECHNOLOGY:
- District provided devices - iPad, laptop, and/or desktop for certified staff.
PAID COLLABORATION TIME.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
