Education:
- Minimum associate degree (bachelor preferred) Life or physical sciences (chemistry preferred) Receive and log in evidence for processing in a production laboratory.
- Receive, store, transfer and return evidence from user agencies, as well as maintaining the physical security of the evidence.
- Initiate/maintain the chain of custody for evidence using a computerized database
- Organize short and long-term evidence storage areas, return evidence when requested and destroy evidence at prescribed times.
- Perform inventory and order laboratory supplies as authorized.
- Ability to follow universal safety precautions when handling biohazards such as blood.
- May have to testify in court regarding how a specific item of evidence was received and handled.
- Ability to create reagents required for certain assays Pour or quantitatively pipet biological specimens and standards in varying volumes
- Prepare and/or extract analytes of interest for subsequent instrumental analysis Interface with analytical instruments (LCMS/MS) to schedule sample acquisition
