
Bus Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Bus Operations Manager to oversee and optimize the daily operations of our bus transportation services. This role is critical to ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of public or private bus transit services and expanding our business in that region. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in transportation
management, strong focus on safety and compliance, excellent leadership skills, and proven business development success.
Key Responsibilities:
● Manage and supervise daily bus service operations, including scheduling, dispatch, fleet utilization, and staff coordination.
● Successfully promote route, charter, and contract bus services in the assigned region.
● Lead, train, and evaluate operational staff including drivers, dispatchers, and maintenance personnel.
● Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations (e.g., DOT,
OSHA).
● Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time performance, safety incidents, and customer satisfaction.
● Develop and implement operational policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and safety protocols.
● Coordinate with fleet maintenance teams to ensure vehicles are in safe working order and maintenance schedules are followed.
● Respond promptly to service disruptions, accidents, and emergencies with effective resolution strategies.
● Prepare and manage operational budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
● Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service reliability, efficiency, and customer experience.
Qualifications:
Experience:
● Minimum 5 years of experience in bus operations or transportation/logistics management.
● Experience in supervisory or managerial roles, preferably in a unionized environment.
Skills & Competencies:
● Strong leadership and team management skills.
● In-depth knowledge of transit operations, vehicle scheduling, and safety regulations.
● Sales and Business Development
● Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
● Proficient in transportation software and fleet management systems.
● Ability to manage budgets, reports, and performance metrics.
● Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality service delivery.
● Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to get upon hire
