Job Summary/Objective: Smith Bruer is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate 401(k) Advisor to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in supporting our Head of Institutional Retirement in managing client retirement plans, delivering outstanding service, and providing plan education and personal financial advice to 401(k) participants. The candidate must maintain the highest professional and ethical standards, be well-organized, and service-oriented. Primary responsibilities may include the following, among others:
Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional service and become a trusted partner to existing institutional clients as the first point of contact.
- Maintain well-established relationships with external partners who serve our clients, i.e. recordkeepers, third-party administrators, and investment managers.
- Serve as an intermediary between clients and external partners during conversions of new retirement plans.
- Assist in the preparation for and participate in client review calls.
- Maintain a schedule of client outreach and on-site visits.
- Under the supervision of the Head of Institutional Retirement, prepare and deliver Quarterly Market Reports (QMRs) by updating data, running reports, and drafting commentary.
- Serve as the first point of contact for plan participants, addressing plan-related and planning-related inquiries
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with participants and deliver personalized reports.
- Ad-hoc projects
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor's degree; Financial Planning, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Experience: Experience in the financial services industry preferred, with a preference for experience in retirement plans or 401(k) administration.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in the Google Workspace suite of tools (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc). Experience with CRM software is a plus.
- Soft Skills/Personal Attributes: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, a client-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications/Licenses: FINRA Series 65 license is highly preferred or must be obtained within the first year of employment. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ preferred, or a desire to obtain the CFP® designation.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and operate office and computer equipment and phones. Office duties may require bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, carrying up to 25 lbs., manual dexterity to sufficiently operate a motor vehicle, standing and prolonged periods of sitting.
