
Business / Accounting Instructor
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Division Chair, the Business / Accounting Instructor is responsible for all aspects of classroom instruction and advisement. The Business Instructor performs his/her duties in a timely manner with a spirit of cooperation with the Division Chair and fellow divisional faculty and in agreement with institutional policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE:
- Clearly communicate the essential concepts in business related courses and provide an innovative, dynamic learning environment to facilitate student learning.
- Utilize appropriate assessment measures to gauge student comprehension of material and communicate progress regularly to students through assignment feedback and online grade posting.
- Participate in scholarly activities and professional development to enhance classroom instruction.
- Counsel and provide academic graduation advisement to business students.
- Support recruitment and retention efforts.
- Serve on institutional committees as assigned.
- Assist with continued accreditation of the Business Division through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)
- Assists Division Chair in the development and review of curriculum, programs and degrees related to student learning, including program review, and develop new and revised programs to reflect changing needs and priorities within the Business Division.
- Provide required student learning outcome assessment data to Division Chair in a timely manner.
- Perform duties in a manner that supports teamwork and professionalism among colleagues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of a master’s degree in Business is required, MBA preferred. Must have excellent communication and computer skills and a minimum of 18 graduate hours in business. Teaching experience or professional experience in business related field is preferred. Teaching areas could include but are not limited to Accounting courses, Introduction to Business, Economics, Management, Marketing, Personal Finance or Computer Applications related courses depending on requisite credentials. Applications will be considered until the position is filled. Night courses could be a required as a part of the 15 hour per semester teaching load, if necessary, as determined by the Division Chair.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, push, lift, haul, pull, reach, carry, grasp, squat or stoop, bend and twist the body while performing essential duties, use hands to operate controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk or hear.
