
Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Are you a creative, strategic communicator who’s passionate about storytelling, community building, and making a difference in education? The Montessori School of Greater Hartford (MSGH) is looking for a Communications and Marketing Coordinator to lead our marketing and communications efforts and elevate our school’s visibility, reputation, and mission.
As an AMI-recognized Montessori school serving children from birth through age 15, MSGH is a vibrant, diverse, and deeply connected community. In this role, you'll help share our story with the world, supporting enrollment, advancement, and community engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and refine the school’s marketing plan to support enrollment and long-term strategic goals.
- Maintain and evolve MSGH’s visual identity across all platforms and materials.
- Write, edit, and distribute engaging communications for current families, alumni, prospective families, and community partners.
- Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets, online platforms, and community partners to manage PR and increase MSGH’s visibility
- Design compelling print and digital advertisements.
- Coordinate event photography and visual storytelling efforts.
- Take photographs and oversee organization and storage of photographs
- Support leadership visibility and community involvement through strategic outreach.
- Create and manage an e-communications calendar, including newsletters and digital campaigns.
- Maintain and regularly update school website content.
- Support gathering insights and feedback from the MSGH community through surveys, focus groups, and parent engagement.
- Collaborate with the Director of Advancement and Head of School on strategic planning and community engagement efforts.
- Provide occasional administrative and classroom support as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations preferred
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong visual and design sensibility; familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, or similar
- Experience with photography
- Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress or similar)
- Highly organized with strong project management skills
- A collaborative spirit, positive attitude, and interest in progressive education
- Experience in a school or nonprofit setting is a plus
- Familiarity with Montessori philosophy (or a willingness to learn) is appreciated
