Industry 4.0 Engineer Intern

PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

The Industry Engineer Intern supports the Engineering Department in both traditional program management and emerging Industry 4.0 initiatives. This dual-role internship focuses on coordinating engineering processes and continuous improvement projects while also assisting in the integration of digital systems and automation tools. The intern will work closely with Program Managers, Quality Engineers, and OT/IT teams to support product launches, data analytics, and smart manufacturing efforts.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

  1. Assist in configuring and managing Content Management Systems (CMS) used in operations or industrial communication platforms.
  2. Support implementation of Funnel Cloud (or similar CRM/automation tools) for data capture, reporting, and system integration.
  3. Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards to visualize key operational metrics.
  4. Collaborate with IT and OT teams to understand data sources and structure for reporting and analytics.
  5. Help maintain and document data pipelines and automated workflows between cloud-based and on-premises systems.
  6. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using digital tools to enhance productivity and visibility on the shop floor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Familiarity with CMS platforms, databases, or low-code/no-code tools.
  2. Basic experience using Power BI or other BI tools for data visualization.
  3. Exposure to cloud platforms or tools like Funnel Cloud, MaintainX, or similar is a plus.
  4. Interest in Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, and digital transformation.
  5. Understanding of industrial systems (MES, ERP, SCADA) or APIs for integration.
  6. Experience with SQL or data modeling.
  7. Familiarity with automation or workflow tools like Microsoft Power Automate and Node-RED.
  8. Computer Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  9. Basic knowledge of OT systems or IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) concepts.
     

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Some of the physical demands for this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds, standing and walking for extended periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping.
