AYW Conservation Corps | Individual Placement (IP) | NPS Hopewell Culture Summer Research Assistant | Remote/Online

American YouthWorks (AYW) and the National Park Service (NPS) are seeking two Individual Placement interns who are members of tribal groups that have ancestral ties to the lands in and around Hopewell Culture National Historical Park, including other federal sites, state sites, and World Heritage nomination sites.


ESSENTUAL SKILLS AND FUNCTIONS

These two Individual Placement interns will learn about park operations, natural resources, and cultural resources, and work with the park’s Education Technician and Chief of Interpretation to develop a tribal youth outreach program vision to share with their respective tribe(s).

Project focus areas include natural resource preservation and conservation, Indigenous knowledge reclamation, Historic, cultural, and language preservation, Environmental education and training, Environmental research and citizen science, and more!

Compensation (AmeriCorps Living Allowance)

  • $2,720 per month ($1360 semi-monthly)


Educational Requirement:

REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Ages 21+
  • US Citizenship or lawful permanent US Resident
  • Ability to pass a National Service Criminal History Check
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred

  • Function as part of a team with the ability to get along with members of all backgrounds and experience levels
  • Strong service ethic and commitment to completing an entire term of service with a desire to serve the community and the environment
