Museum Data Systems Integration Intern
Job Title:
Museum Data Systems Integration Intern (Summer 2025)
Location:
Cleveland, OH (Hybrid or Onsite preferred)
Job Description:
G&A is a world-renowned, full-service design and consulting firm that specializes in museums. We are a certified B Corp and offer interns the opportunity to both develop their skills and have a positive impact on communities around the country through the museums you will help to develop.
You will be the technical lead on this project, supported by a strategy and content team, but without a dedicated engineering manager. That means you’ll need to work independently, make decisions with confidence, and collaborate closely with non-technical teammates to understand user needs and translate them into functional solutions.
This is an opportunity to create something real, functional, and meaningful. Your work will directly support our post-opening exhibit evaluation strategy and help our clients make smarter, data-informed decisions.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and test a prototype dashboard that integrates and centralizes data from various sources (e.g., Ticketure, SurveyMonkey, Airtable)
- Create easy-to-use tools that help both G&A and our museum clients understand and visualize patterns in visitor behavior, engagement, and operations
- Work with non-technical staff to identify needs, gather requirements, and validate usability
- Document your work thoroughly so it can be sustained beyond your internship
- Present progress and findings clearly to internal teams and potentially to clients
What You’ll Need
- A strong background in computer science, software development, or data systems (you may be a junior, senior, or grad student)
- Experience building a complete digital product or tool, from start to finish, that you can show and explain
- Comfort working without technical oversight, and a drive to solve problems independently
- Familiarity with JavaScript, Python, SQL, and/or dashboard tools like Airtable, Power BI, or Tableau
- Great communication skills (you’ll need to talk through technical ideas with people who don’t speak tech)
- Bonus: Experience working with APIs or importing data from survey tools, ticketing systems, or custom databases (not required!)
- Bonus: Exposure to museums, nonprofits, or civic design work (not required!)
Internship Details
- Timeline: June - August 2025 (flexible start/end dates; potential for fall extension)
- Hours: 25 - 40 hours/week
- Pay: $20 - 25/hour
- Location: Hybrid strongly preferred; some in-person days at G&A’s Cleveland office
Submit the following:
- Your resume
- A brief cover letter explaining why you're interested and how you approach independent project work
- A portfolio or GitHub link showcasing a full product or tool you’ve built, clearly walk us through what you made, how, and why
