Intern Audio Producer & Journalist
Shoresides (www.shoresides.org) is a nonprofit local journalism platform serving coastal North Carolina. We aim to deliver compelling audio content that informs, educates, and engages our audience about the challenges and stories shaping coastal communities.
Shoresides is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Intern Audio Producer & Journalist to join our team remotely. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in audio production while contributing to impactful journalism focused on coastal North Carolina.
Responsibilities:
- Journalism Skills: Conduct research, fact-checking, and gathering information to develop compelling story ideas and pitches.
- Interview Coordination: Identify, contact, and schedule interviews with relevant individuals, including experts, community leaders, and residents, to capture diverse perspectives on environmental and community issues.
- Audio Production: Record, edit, and produce high-quality audio content, including interviews, narratives, and reports, adhering to professional standards and best practices in audio production.
- Meeting Deadlines: Work efficiently to meet project deadlines and deliverables, ensuring timely production and publication of audio content.
- Attention to Facts: Uphold high standards of accuracy, integrity, and journalistic ethics in all aspects of content creation, fact-checking information thoroughly before publication.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in journalism, communications, media production, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, while also being a collaborative team player.
- Passion for storytelling and a keen interest in environmental and community issues, particularly those affecting coastal regions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in audio production, journalism, or related fields (e.g., podcasting, radio broadcasting, reporting).
- Experience with conducting interviews and storytelling in audio format.
- Knowledge of digital media platforms and content distribution strategies.
