Internal Communications Intern

Please note this role is for currently enrolled students who will be receiving class credit for the internship. Compensation for this position is an end of semester stipend (one-time payment) in the amount of $825.00.

About the Internship

LifeWorks is looking for an Internal Communications Intern to join our team in Austin, Texas for the Fall 2025 semester (9/8/25 through 12/5/25). In this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience in developing and executing internal communication strategies that keep our employees informed, engaged and connected. You’ll also support various communication initiatives, working closely with the executive, human resources and programs/operation teams to ensure clear and consistent messaging across the organization. 

This is a collaborative role designed for someone who is curious, creative, and committed to social impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Assist in drafting and editing internal communications materials, including policies, emails, announcements, presentations, and Teams posts.
  • Intranet Support: Maintain and update content on the company intranet, ensuring information is consistent, accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
  • Event Support: Provide support for internal events, such as town halls, employee meetings, and social gatherings, including logistics, communication, and on-site assistance.
  • Communication Channel Management: Assist in managing/cleaning up various internal communication channels, including email distribution lists, internal communication platforms and digital signage.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on internal communication best practices and trends. Assist in gathering data and feedback on communication effectiveness.
  • Project Support: Support various internal communication projects as needed, which may include developing communication plans, creating surveys, or organizing communication materials.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, organizing online files, and managing calendars and others as needed.
  • Collaborations: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including HR, Marketing, Development, Operations etc., to ensure alignment on internal messaging. 
  • Recommendations: Stay informed about company news, initiatives, and employee activities to identify communication opportunities.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Current student in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and grammar. 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). 
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) or intranet platforms is a plus. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.   
  • Self-starter with a collaborative spirit.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn.
