Financial Center Coordinator

 Starting annual salary $45,000

The Financial Opportunity Center’s (FOC) Coordinator will oversee VITA program implementation and operations across the Greater Hartford, Enfield, Manchester, and Windham regions.  Oversight will include continued implementation and expansion of VITA. The FOC Coordinator will integrate tax program services with The Village’s existing financial education/asset building strategies, in addition to serving as the liaison to VITA partners and stakeholders. Partners and stakeholders include, but are not limited to program funders, tax site host locations, colleges and universities, The City of Hartford and other municipalities.   

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Plan and implement annual VITA/EITC campaign.
  2. Provide technical assistance to sites, as needed.
  3. Manage all equipment/supplies distribution and respond to needs from sites with efficiency.
  4. Ensure sites adherence to IRS Quality Site Requirements, including dissemination of IRS Volunteer Tax Alerts
  5. In collaboration with FOC Director, design and operationalize referral mechanisms to connect filers to Financial Opportunity Center and develop means of tracking/reporting on results of referrals.
  6. Partner with the Communications Team to market the VITA/EITC program.
  7. Work with local community partners to increase the number of income-eligible filers at VITA sites.
  8. Develop a schedule for the VITA van mobile tax site as well as drive and oversee all VITA van operations.
  9. Manage all data to make informed program decisions in real time, including weekly review of all IRS reports.
  10. Ensure the collection of demographic information from all filers.
  11. Engage with partners to ensure timely and effective training/certification of volunteer tax preparers/site coordinators.
  12. Collaborate with partners to set up training locations and/or online training schedules for volunteers.
  13. Provide coverage for site coordinators/tax preparers should cancellations or other circumstances arise as needed.
  14. Support communications with volunteers throughout and beyond tax season to ensure satisfaction and quality.
  15. Receive, schedule, and manage program referrals related to FOC and VITA inquiries.

Experience and Skills

EDUCATION

  •  Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, financial services or other related field.  An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience totaling at least 4 years is minimally required.

 

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to pivot with changing priorities and needs effectively and efficiently.
  • Experience in VITA/EITC specifically and/or overall program coordination.
  • Ability to build strong, positive, and respectful relationships with a diverse group of people, colleagues, and partners.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Organized, adaptable and flexible
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong competency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.  Possess solid computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment.   Familiarity with specific applications used by The Village a plus
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Bilingual/bicultural abilities (English/Spanish) needed.
  • Reliable transportation required.
