Junior Editor

Expected Hours: 20-25 per week  to start

Work you'll do:

We’re seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Junior Editor to support the content teams behind Total Vet, CertaPet, and Service Dogs—three brands at the forefront of pet health education and telehealth services. In this role, you’ll help uphold editorial standards, ensure content accuracy, and assist with publishing workflows to deliver compelling, trustworthy content for pet parents and veterinary professionals alike. This is a perfect opportunity for an early-career editor with strong writing instincts, a passion for pets, and an eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

Content Editing & QA (70%)

  • Proofread and edit blog posts (SEO articles) and landing pages for grammar, clarity, tone, and style (AP + brand-specific guidelines).
  • Perform fact-checking, particularly around medical claims and pet health topics.
  • Ensure articles are optimized for readability and user engagement (e.g. formatting, structure, CTAs).
  • Review content in CMS (e.g., WordPress) prior to publishing to confirm SEO elements, visuals, and internal links are in place.

Editorial Workflow Support (30%)

  • Perform writing tasks under the supervision of the content manager
  • Write brand partnered brand reviews for TotalVet 

Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years of editing, writing, or publishing experience (internships or freelance work accepted).
  • Strong command of English grammar and editorial best practices.
  • Familiarity with AP Style and/or content brand guidelines.
  • Comfortable working in CMS platforms like WordPress.
  • Knowledge of the G-suite
  • Organized and responsive with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Experience or interest in pet health, veterinary medicine, or wellness is a big plus.
  • Bonus: Knowledge of basic SEO, AI editing tools (like Grammarly or ChatGPT), or project management software.
