Research Technician/Senior Research Technician – Cancer epigenetics
The Laboratory of Dr. Hong Wen, Ph.D., in the VAI Department of Epigenetics, is seeking to hire a highly motivated and experienced full-time Research Technician or Senior Research Technician to support the cutting-edge research efforts. The Wen Lab focuses on epigenetic pathways in cancer, aiming to identify potential drug targets and develop novel epigenetic therapies for cancer treatment. This position offers substantial opportunities for learning and professional growth, including the opportunity to take ownership of an independent line of scientific investigation under the mentorship of Dr. Wen and senior scientists.
Successful candidates for this position will have the following qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be scientifically driven, technically proficient, detail-oriented, and possess strong lab management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on bench experience; 5+ years preferred
- Technical expertise in molecular cloning, cell culture, and mouse genetics
- Prior experience with mouse genetics is strongly preferred
- Self-disciplined, highly organized team worker
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Maintain mouse colonies, including breeding, genotyping, and monitoring experimental cohorts
- Perform and assist with procedures involving mouse models, including basic testing, treatment, tissue collection and processing
- Conduct cell culture work, including primary cell culture derived from mouse models
- Perform molecular cloning and conduct basic molecular and biochemical assays
- Carry out lab duties as assigned by PI
