Sales and Marketing Intern

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Sales & Marketing Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sales while actively contributing to the development of a local marketing strategy. You’ll work closely with our team at Idaho Falls Fiber to drive new customer acquisition and increase fiber footprint in the City of Idaho Falls.

This position offers a base salary, plus a performance-based commission structure. Earn additional income by achieving sales targets and contributing to the company's growth.

The role of promoting and selling fiber optic internet services involves engaging with residential and business customers through various outreach methods, including in-person interactions, phone calls, and digital communication. A key aspect of this position includes identifying and qualifying leads within designated territories or customer segments, ensuring targeted and effective sales efforts. Will include door to door sales interactions.

 

Educating potential customers about the advantages and unique features of fiber optic internet is crucial to fostering informed purchasing decisions. Additionally, collaboration is essential in developing localized marketing strategies that encompass event promotions, digital campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.

 

Maintaining accurate records by tracking and reporting sales activities, customer feedback, and market trends allows for continuous improvement and strategic planning. This role also involves supporting promotional events, participating in canvassing efforts, and contributing to grassroots marketing initiatives to drive engagement.

 

Creative input is encouraged, particularly in developing marketing materials, social media content, and promotional strategies to enhance brand visibility and customer engagement.

2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Working knowledge of fiber optic internet services, including their benefits and technical features, to effectively educate customers and support sales initiatives. A foundational knowledge of marketing strategies, customer engagement techniques, and grassroots outreach methods is essential for promoting fiber services in residential and business markets. Additionally, familiarity with service policies, energy efficiency programs, and fiber optic network connections ensures that customers receive accurate and helpful information. The ability to track sales activities, analyze customer feedback, and monitor market trends is valuable for strategic planning and continuous improvement.

 

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to build relationships with customers and collaborate with internal teams. A self-starter mindset and positive attitude are necessary for proactively engaging leads and executing outreach initiatives. The ability to work both independently and within a team environment is crucial for coordinating marketing plans, supporting promotional events, and assisting customers through multiple communication channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions. Technical proficiency, particularly with Microsoft 365 and mapping software, further enhances the ability to manage sales data and optimize outreach efforts. Additionally, attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to customer satisfaction contribute to the effectiveness of this position.

 

Special Qualifications:

 

Preferred candidates may have experience in telecommunications, sales, or marketing, along with certifications in networking technologies or digital marketing. Familiarity with CRM software, GIS, or data analytics is beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a passion for customer engagement and technology are highly valued.

 

Must be able to work adjustable hours including some weekends and holidays which may be set aside for events.

 

Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls with periodic fieldwork subjected to variable weather.  Tasks require a variety of physical activities, periodically involving muscular strain, such as shoveling, walking, standing, stooping, sitting, climbing, carrying, reaching, and lifting (50 pounds). Talking, hearing and seeing essential to assigned duties.  Rapid work speed required to perform keyboard operations.   Common eye, hand, finger, dexterity required.  Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking.
