QA Supervisor
The QA Supervisor is a key member of the quality team and is accountable for the company’s overall food safety and quality programs (FSQA), ensuring the production of safe and high-quality products for our customers. This individual is responsible for ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are in full compliance with all regulatory bodies, food certification requirements and company standards. This individual will be the champion of establishing company-wide food safety and quality culture, proactively eliminating barriers to this end, and reinforcing positive behaviors. Participates in projects with cross-functional teams to support as needed overall company goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Site backup SQF Practitioner and PCQI.
- Assists in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of FSQA programs including but not limited to SQF, HACCP, Pest Control Program, GMP’s, Approved Supplier Program, Foreign Material Control and Food Defense.
- Coordinate and manage the Pest Control Program activities of the facility.
- Maintain, monitor and improve Food Fraud, Food Defense and Supplier Approval programs.
- Conduct global regulatory compliance assessments via interpretation of existing food and/or food contact regulations and searches of regulatory databases. SQF and Organic regulations.
- Train and review QA/QC methodologies, SOP’s, SSOP’s, performance, and techniques of QA/QC personnel.
- Manage COA’s from suppliers and for customers.
- Manage site food safety documents, conduct risk assessments, and root cause analysis.
- Maintains the Supplier Approval Program database, Kosher and Organic program.
- Maintain quality and regulatory documents that are up to date; create and revise documents when necessary; retain documents electronically in an orderly manner accessible to relevant personnel.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) to address compliance issues.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of site SOP’s. Support SSOP development and improvement.
- Verifies and approves printed labels, new and updated label proofs for regulatory compliance.
- Participates in all third-party food safety and value-added audits for the location.
- Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and implement preventive measures to enhance product quality and food safety.
- Support the training and development of QA/QC technicians and supervisory-level employees in QA/QC practices.
- Serve as backup for Director of QA, QC Supervisor and QA/QC technicians.
Perform other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: B.S. in Food Science or Technology, Engineering, Biological Science, or related field.
Experience: 4 – 6 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of food safety principles, HACCP, SSOPs, and regulatory compliance.
Certifications: SQF Practitioner, HACCP, and PCQI certification is required.

- Must possess excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience writing Standard Operating Procedures in a manufacturing setting.
- Must be able to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drop off samples as needed.
- Occasional travel required.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- This position reports directly to the Director of QA/R&D.
- The QA Supervisor works closely with other team members.
