CRITICALITY STATEMENT:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to support our Quality Department at our Brooklyn Park, MN location. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to key quality initiatives across supplier, process, and customer quality functions. The Ideal candidate is eager to learn, collaborative, and passionate about continuous improvement in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting the Quality Department’s efforts to uphold and enhance our standards in product and process excellence. You will assist in reviewing corrective action reports, streamlining ISO 9001 documentation, conducting audits, and participating in root cause analysis and problem-solving activities. Working closely with senior quality engineers and cross-functional teams, you will gain exposure to sensor testing, equipment maintenance, EHS compliance, and S5 implementation. This internship is an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in quality engineering while contributing to meaningful projects that impact product performance and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review all submitted corrective action reports (CAR). Collaborate with the CAR leader/team to make sure of the completeness of each CAR per 8D requirements.
- Work with QMS documentation person and process owners to streamline and reduce the number of ISO 9001 process documents.
- Participate in hands-on problem solving and resolution.
- Work with Sr. Quality Engineer to perform sensor testing, equipment maintenance and DOEs.
- Work with the supervisor to develop process audit checklist and help perform process audits.
- Work with the EHS specialist to streamline documents and perform EHS audit(s).
- Get trained to perform outgoing quality audits.
- Help institute 5S program and establish cadence for regular 5S, daily, weekly and monthly audits.
- The Quality Intern will provide technical support focusing on Manufacturing, Quality, or New Product Development projects.
- Help perform incoming quality assurance using set procedure(s) and participate in regular MRB team meetings for proper and timely disposition of non-conforming product. Compile, analyze and utilize data for supplier quality improvements.
- Identify areas of improvement and participate in continuous improvement projects.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Undergraduate student at junior level or higher, with successful completion of core engineering coursework.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Foundational understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail with demonstrated mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
- Previous internship or practical experience in an engineering environment is a plus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role will not have any direct management responsibility.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are essential for successfully performing this role. You may occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs alone or more with assistance. The role requires the ability to reach low to the ground and across the width of a table while standing. Additionally, you will use hand tools and must be able to stand or sit for extended periods.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The quality Engineering Intern will work in a dynamic and collaborative office setting, interacting with various departments. The intern will regularly work in a professional office setting using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers, as well as spending time on the production floor where exposure to machinery, tools, and moderate noise levels is common. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required. The environment is fast paced, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement to maintain our market leadership.
