Digital Fabrication & Maker Lab Intern
Location: Hempstead, NY (In-Person)
Commitment: Summer 2025 | Part-time or Full-time
Compensation: $18/hour - $20/hour
Position Overview:
This role supports the daily operations of our digital fabrication and maker space. Interns will work with students, instructors, and staff to fabricate and finish designs using digital fabrication tools and assist with project development.
What We’re Looking For:
Students pursuing mechanical engineering, mechatronics, industrial design, architecture, or a related discipline with hands-on experience using fabrication tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain digital fabrication equipment including 3D printers, laser cutter, vinyl printer/cutter, and CNC router
Prepare files for fabrication using design software (e.g., Tinkercad, Fusion 360, Inkscape, LightBurn, Cura, Easel, etc.)
Assist students and staff with producing and finishing projects
Conduct test runs, calibrate machines, and troubleshoot basic hardware issues
Maintain a clean and organized workspace with safe tool usage practices
Help document processes and contribute to guides or training resources
