
Supplier Quality Intern
POSITION SUMMARY
The individual in this role will be working collaboratively with key stakeholders to manage and seek improvements for the Nellson corporate Supplier Quality Program (SQP). This position has ultimate responsibility to review raw material requirements according to FDA appendix 1A (Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food: Guidance for Industry) and update raw material risk assessment in Flash. Also, to connect with suppliers to update testing requirements on the CoA and specification sheets in accordance with appendix 1A.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / JOB DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
· Update raw material requirements with applicable food regulations including the FDA FSMA (e.g., FSVP) and CFIA.
· Perform raw material (ingredient) assessment according to FDA Appendix 1A (Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food: Guidance for Industry) and supplier preventive controls for biological and chemical hazards and update Flash with findings.
· Review CoA along with specifications against FDA appendix 1A requirements and reach out to supplier if any biological or chemical testing is required to be updated.
· Ask supplier to add and update FDA required testing to CoA and specification sheet.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE)
· Current college or university student earning degree in Food Science / Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry or a related technical field.
· Interested in learning progressive food / beverage safety and quality management experience.
· Gain hands-on knowledge of raw material and supplier hazard risk assessment.
· Ability to write professional technical procedures, instructions and reports.
· Ability to work collaboratively with external and internal teams.
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written documents.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· On site
· Office / Production / Warehouse settings that may be dusty, noisy with wide temperature variations.
· Exposure to forklift traffic and working in tight quarters, including air travel / airports / hotels.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Sitting at a workstation / airplane for extended periods of time.
· Standing, walking, climbing stairs, ladders, with some twisting / kneeling as needed on a frequent basis.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
