POSITION SUMMARY

The Mortgage Operations Intern reviews loan documents for compliance, completeness, and accuracy.  Obtains missing information, prepares files, and provides support to internal and external customers.  Utilizes standard concepts, practices, and procedures well known within the mortgage industry.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Review closed loan packages for accuracy and completeness
  2. Communicate with settlement agents, brokers, and other counter-parties to obtain missing information and documentation for the closed-loan package
  3. Inputs information into Encompass, Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Administration (VA), and Mortgage Electronic Registration System (MERS) programs
  4. Contact Closing Attorneys, Underwriters, Loan Officers, Processors, and/or other applicable parties to resolve issues in loan files and obtain appropriate documentation
  5. Revert to Processing Department for any missing documents needed
  6. Perform Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Closing Disclosure (CD) reviews, and provide specific documents to closing agents to allow funding authorization
  7. Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the process
  8. Coordinate with the Lender and Escrow company(ies) on final loan documents, if any errors occur
  9. Follow-up and manage trailing documentation within the specific timeframes provided

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE, AND COMPETENCIES

  1. High school diploma anticipated or received, or equivalent
  2. Proficient with Technology

  12. Able to use Company equipment in assigned areas (including but not limited to telephone, copiers, scanners, fax machines, computers, internet, etc.)
  13. Able to access, input, retrieve, and interpret information using applicable computer systems (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, industry-specific computer software, etc.)
  14. Able to multi-task (e.g., simultaneous usage of several software applications, etc.)
  15. Well-versed with keyboard shortcuts and able to identity new ways to complete a task in less time
  16. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  17. Works well under general supervision
  18. Able to handle deadlines and working within banking guidelines
  19. Able to recommend ways to improve post-closing processes
  20. Compliance with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws, and Office of Foreign Asset Controls (OFAC) requirements is required. Employee must complete annual training in these areas

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a clerical office setting; climate-controlled surroundings with adequate lighting and little or moderate noise when in the office.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is largely a sedentary role; however, standing for extended periods of time may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.  

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
