Full-Time Marine Patrol Officer II
- Conduct law enforcement patrols on inland and coastal waters enforcing Federal and State boating laws and rules, and State criminal laws on the water.
- Perform regular security checks on critical infrastructure on the State’s seacoast.
- Participate in the escort of sensitive military and civilian vessels with the purpose of providing security while in transit.
- Arrest suspects forcibly, if necessary, using handcuffs and other restraints; subdue resisting suspects using maneuvers, approved weapons, and hands and feet in self-defense.
- Operate law enforcement vehicles, patrol boats during both day and night; in emergency situations involving high speeds, in congested traffic and in unsafe water conditions caused by factors such as fog, rain, wind, heavy surf, extreme cold (icing conditions), current, ice and snow.
- Write investigative and other reports, including sketches, citations, affidavits, complaints and warrants using appropriate grammar, symbols, and mathematical computations.
- Prosecute criminal cases in District Court and testify as a witness when necessary.
- Inspect private and commercial boats for compliance with Federal and State commercial vessel laws and regulations.
- Serve as Field Training Officer for both Marine Patrol Officer Trainees and new personnel assigned to the coast patrol.
