Internship in Accounting and Finance

Agency Information:  Kansas Department of AdministrationOffice of Accounts & Reports

The Office of Accounts & Reports is responsible for providing centralized statewide payroll and accounting systems and uniform classification of accounts and for providing assistance to agencies and guidance in the form of policies, procedures, forms, and best practices that will facilitate consistent recording of financial transactions from which statewide financial reporting may be generated and audited.

Full-Time/Part-Time: Part-Time

Work Schedule: 15-20 hours/week (Flexible within M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm as approved by supervisor)  Summer intern with possibility for extension into academic year.

Internship Duties

Internship project working with the tracking and analysis of data gathered from agency internal control assessments. Utilization of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word to develop and report data metrics related to internal control compliance and identify recommendations to drive communications and training development focused on improving compliance with internal controls. Position may also assist with cash reconciliation items and other special projects as assigned.

Preferred: College student, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field of study
