We are looking for a Senior Director of Advocacy who can ensure the high standards in advocacy for children to whom CASA is appointed through the courts of Travis County. The Senior Director of Advocacy is a member of the Program Management team and, together with the Chief Program Officer (CPO), Senior Director of Community Engagement (SDCE), and Director of Quality and Safety (DQS), assists in articulating and implementing the strategic goals and mission of the organization; evaluating the effectiveness of services to achieve these goals; providing mentoring, guidance, supervision, and professional development to program staff; and ensures the high standards for the advocacy of children to whom CASA is appointed through the Travis County courts. The Senior Director of Advocacy will ensure that the mission of CASA of Travis County is carried out while adhering to CASA’s policies and procedures.
CASA of Travis County believes every child who has experienced abuse or neglect deserves to have a dedicated advocate speaking up for their best interest in court, at school, and in our community. To accomplish this, the team at CASA educates and empowers community volunteers who ensure each child's needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system.
As the Senior Director of Advocacy, you will oversee the onboarding of new Child Advocacy Specialists in conjunction with the Director of Advocacy and will facilitate the onboarding of Program Managers and Directors. The Senior Director of Advocacy directly supervises Program Managers and Directors on the Advocacy Leadership team and supports them in motivating and supervising all members of the advocacy team and is responsible for the oversight of CASA of Travis County’s advocacy and volunteer management efforts.

Responsibilities
1.Ensures that the mission and goals of CASA of Travis County are met.
•With the Chief Executive Officer & Chief Program Oficer, maintains regular contact with the judges in whose courts CASA is represented, for the purpose of continually refining CASA’s relationship with the court.
•With the Chief Program Officer and Senior Directors, represents the mission of CASA in the community with other agencies. Assists with legislative advocacy as directed by the Chief Program Officer.
•Develops a strategy for accepting new assignments of cases that reflects the strategic plan of the Board of Directors while respecting the caseloads of the Child Advocacy Specialists.
• Recommends innovations and improvements to CASA’s practices as appropriate
• Prioritizes data-driven decision making when possible
2. Directs and oversees all advocacy efforts at CASA of Travis County
• Proposes and implements systems and procedures for ensuring that minimum standards for advocacy and volunteer management are consistently met and that best practices are consistently attempted
• Develops strategies to improve volunteer engagement and retention and, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Community Engagement and Director of Quality and Safety, implements those strategies
• Reviews the statistical reporting of the advocacy program and utilizes that data to coach leadership in pursuit of strategic goals
• With the Chief Program Officer, prepares statistical reports and projections concerning agency activity and makes recommendations about future needs and programming
3. Manages CASA of Travis County’s Advocacy efforts
• Holds regular supervision with direct reports and ensures that those reporting to the Director of Advocacy are held to the same standard and communication remains consistent.
• Leads development and execution of an annual advocacy operational plan.
• Plans for and implements periodic quality control phone calls to Volunteer Advocates
4. Oversees quality and safety work of the advocacy team
• Reviews incident reports to assess for trends and makes recommendations about internal policies or protocols
• Monitors and ensures adherence to child safety protocols
• Champions the Praesidium safety equation by modeling adherence to child safety standards and ensuring child safety is at the forefront of programmatic discussions
5. Collaborates with the Director of Community Engagement to ensure that the volunteer advocate experience is productive, rewarding, and safe
• Shares responsibility as needed for interviewing and screening potential volunteers
• Recommends topics for in-service trainings and participates in those trainings as appropriate
• Works with the community engagement staff to ensure that at least 80% of children served by CASA have a volunteer appointed to their case
6. Together with the Program Management Team, provide thought leadership, vision, and direction for program development
• Generate innovative ideas, insights and opinions to help move the program forward with strategic goals
• Provide expertise in understanding how changes will affect the program, other teams, volunteers, children, and families, and ensure collaborative and thoughtful execution of change management
• Using the strategic plan as a guide, envision new program initiatives for CASA and assist with planning and execution
7. Other responsibilities
• Attends and assists with fundraising and volunteer events
• Attends and participates in community meetings as needed or at the direction of the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Program Officer.
