Material Science Intern
SUMMARY: This position will focus on learning to formulate and evaluate small polyurethane polymer samples through execution of standard practices and procedures under the guidance and supervision of Rubberlite’s polyurethanes skill center. ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work safely and adhere to all Rubberlite Health & Safety policies and procedures • Use basic laboratory skills to generate polymer samples through experimental design and execution • Provides data for correlation and predictive modeling • Provides input and maintains relevant databases • Participate in project work including: 1. Formulation and polymer characterization database data entry and evaluation 2. Formulated sample generation 3. Karl-Fischer analysis of polyurethane resin blends 4. Data Analysis using Microsoft Excel
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Undergraduate student with preference for Junior or Senior level course completion in relevant sciences or engineering disciplines. Successful completion of organic chemistry coursework preferred. • Basic mathematic and algebraic skills generally commensurate with degree program • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills • Detail oriented • General working capability with MS Office with emphasis in Excel • Ability to follow directions and articulate responses
