Production Planner

**Position is full time onsite - no remote work**

 

The Production Planner is responsible for defining, creating, and communicating integrated production plans that align with customer requirements, supply chain capabilities, and overall operational capacity. This role requires strong collaborative planning, project management, and communication skills to ensure manufacturing processes—internal and external—are optimized for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. The planner will help drive efficiency through effective scheduling, resource allocation, and coordination across departments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain integrated production schedules based on customer orders, forecasted demand, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure sufficient capacity through effective resource planning, including raw materials, equipment, labor, and tools.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Quality, and Production teams to receive raw materials and resolve any associated issues.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive the timely release of work orders and monitor their progress through completion.
  • Prepare and release travelers, optimizing work orders to meet EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) values.
  • Plan work centers, including saws, presses, and grinding operations.
  • Distribute the forging equipment planning matrix.
  • Ensure splits and skips in production are performed on schedule.
  • Generate and distribute daily reports, including percent-to-standard and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics by work center.
  • Assist in automating reporting and analytics through tools like Power BI.
  • Support all administrative functions related to production operations.
  • Close out intermediary work orders for the production floor.
  • Serve as backup for the Production Control Manager upon training completion.
  • Collaborate with departments such as Sales, Engineering, and external service providers to ensure production goals and customer deadlines are met.
  • Identify and resolve production issues (e.g., delays, material shortages, equipment breakdowns) with minimal impact to operations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing/Production Engineering, or related field with 3–4 years of relevant production planning experience and or 5-7 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Strong planning, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems, databases, and Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze and optimize system functions.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Foundational knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing operations.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent walking, standing, and bending on the production floor.
