Client Service Representative - Independent Insurance Agency

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

As a Client Service Representative, you'll be the first point of contact for many of our valued clients and will manage a $1.5 million premium book of business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Client Communication & Support:
    • Receiving and transferring phone calls, addressing client inquiries, and assisting office visitors.
    • Handling requests for quotes, policy changes, and new policies, completing all changes and requests within 24 hours.
    • Determining policy acceptability and placement, completing applications or endorsements, and collecting premiums as needed.
    • Conducting periodic service calls for designated accounts to ensure client satisfaction.
    • Performing special projects for clients as approved by management, ensuring timely completion of binders and policy/endorsement requests.
  • Policy Management & Renewals:
    • Maintaining a high level of timeliness and completeness in all interactions to minimize errors and omissions.
    • Gathering renewal information from insureds and completing applications for designated renewal business 60 days before the renewal date.
    • Assisting Producers as needed with various tasks.
    • Reviewing renewals to identify opportunities to rewrite non-standard policies into standard programs.
    • Preparing rewrite applications for business with companies no longer represented by the agency at least 30 days prior to renewal.
    • Securing and submitting all required renewal underwriting information.
    • Gathering information and risk management recommendations for designated account renewals 60 days prior to renewal, and delivering renewals/binders within five days of receipt.
  • Sales & Growth Initiatives:
    • Reviewing existing accounts to identify and solicit additional lines of insurance via mail and/or phone prior to renewal.
    • Receiving and reviewing all terminations and cancellations, taking necessary action within 48 hours.
    • Handling premium collection through form letters and requesting policy cancellations when necessary.
    • Following up on outstanding claims and providing assistance in their resolution.
    • Soliciting expiration dates for policies not written by the agency (expecting an average of one expiration date per client serviced).
    • Actively soliciting increases in limits and/or coverages or rounding out accounts through sales to clients at every service contact.
    • Actively seeking referrals from current clients for new business prospects and following up to generate new business using our prospect database and automation system.
  • Documentation & Administration:
    • Documenting all material conversations with insureds and/or carriers regarding exposures and coverages in the agency management system.
    • Performing other functions as assigned by management to support agency operations.

What We're Looking For (Qualifications):

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: While property & casualty experience is preferred, it is not required for this entry-level position. We are open to training new graduates with a strong desire to learn. 
  • License/Certification: You will be required to obtain a Property & Casualty Insurance License. We will support you in achieving this!
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Proficient in basic computer applications.
    • Customer-focused mindset with a desire to help others.
  • Work Location: This is an in-person role at our office in Kansas City, MO. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience. Annual pay increases should be expected with satisfactory job performance.
  • Additional Compensation: Bonus opportunities and commission pay.

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. No weekends!
