Early Childhood Specialist - Paid Internship
Overview: We are currently accepting applications for our Early Childhood Internship for the 2025 season at our overnight summer camp in Northeast Pennsylvania (Pocono Mountains) located just 2½ hours from New York City and Philadelphia.
Job Description: We are seeking a warm, experienced, and nurturing Early Childhood Specialist to provide individualized care and support for young children (typically ages 0–5) at our sleep away summer camp. This role is designed for someone with a background in early childhood education, child development, or related fields, who can create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children while their parents participate in camp activities. Responsibilities include daily routines such as meals, naps, hygiene, play, and emotional support, along with planning and facilitating simple, age-appropriate activities. The ideal candidate is patient, attentive, and adaptable, with a strong understanding of the unique needs of young children in a communal camp setting. This position is distinct from a general camp counselor role and is focused exclusively on providing consistent, high-quality care for our youngest community members.
Our Program: Each summer, outstanding staff members are recruited and hired from the United States and around the world, and our leadership team oversees all critical operations and programs that our staff members facilitate. All staff will be part of a team of people that creates a supportive and structured environment for everyone in our residential community, and our leaders will be role models that exemplify the values and principles outlined in our camp’s mission. Our staff will be assured a summer of hard work, meaningful learning and growth, an impact on the lives of children, and the opportunity to develop as a professional.
Dates: June 13th, 2025 - August 16th, 2025
Salary: Our camps offer a competitive salary based on age and experience. Our staff will receive a salary in addition to travel reimbursement. Room and board are included.
Responsibilities: Oversight of multiple areas, supervision of teams of staff members, support and facilitation of programs and training, evaluation and assessment, and direct service to campers and their staff.
