State of North Carolina Administrative Specialist I

Salary Recruitment Range: $37,782 - $42,000
Salary Grade: NC08

 

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workday. The NC Department of Insurance trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

 

Mission of the Department of Insurance:

To promote a stable insurance market through unbiased regulation and to protect the lives and property of every citizen in all 100 counties while fostering superior, user-friendly service, courtesy, and respect.

 

Primary Purpose of the Position: 

Field incoming phone calls to the ASD Call Center regarding licensing questions, financial/continuing education questions, Public Records Requests, and complaints against licensed individuals or business entities. This position will answer the questions or distribute the call to the appropriate personnel if unable to answer the question. This position also sets up complaint or inquiry files for the Compliance Section and assists the Licensing Manager with licensing issues.

This position also assists in processing referred license applications received from the department's third party vendor who screens initial license applications and refers those which do not meet the licensing requirements or who have answered a disqualifying question. This position is required to assist with special projects and complete all other duties as assigned based on the business needs of the Division.

 

This position is required to work at least 4 days per week in the office.

  • Considerable knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to a program or area of specialization.
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in performance of administrative tasks; ability to explain and interpret information to clients/customers and staff.
  • Considerable knowledge of program policies, procedures and information systems in order to communicate and process information.
  • Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information; ability to apply knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

 

 

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Management Preferences / Special

Qualifications:
 

  • Customer service experience or call center experience.
