POSITION: WINE LABORATORY INTERN
DEPARTMENT: LAB
REPORTS TO: LAB SUPERVISOR
DATE RANGE: AUGUST THROUGH END OF HARVEST (NOVEMBER)
HOURS: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, shifting to 4:00 AM - 12:30 PM during harvest
HOURLY RATE: $21/hr.
BONUS: $500 end of Harvest Bonus

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking one highly motivated individual to join our laboratory team for the upcoming harvest. An internship with us would expose you to all aspects in the lab, give an overview of grape receival, fermentation, and the general winemaking process. You will learn proper laboratory techniques and work within a state-of-the-art laboratory gaining valuable experience in a renowned Wine Company. Our ideal applicant will be dependable, detail oriented, enthusiastic, and efficient in a fast-paced environment. This is a paid internship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor must and wine for the completion of both primary and secondary fermentations.
- Perform basic analysis on incoming fruit, juice, fermenting must, and finished wines.
- Accurately perform and report on data sheets all analyses for review in accordance with SOPS.
- Collection of tank and barrel samples for analysis and tasting.
- Calibrate and standardize laboratory equipment and reagents.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on incoming fruit.
- Data entry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of lab analysis and methodology.
- Must be quality focused, punctual and reliable.
- Ability to self-start and prioritize.
- Must be a team player and willing to assist others.
- Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed during harvest.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision when required.
- Position includes extensive walking, standing and climbing.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Adheres to all health and safety protocols put in place.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The lab contains hazardous chemicals. The cellar and barrel warehouse present a challenging environment: hot and cold, wet, slippery and often noisy. Must be able to walk up and down stairs, ladders and mobile platforms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, bend, twist, and be able to lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
