BRBF Programs & Events Manager

BRBF Programs & Events Manager

 

Reports to:
Executive Director, Baton Rouge Bar Foundation (BRBF)

 

Position Summary:
The Programs & Events Manager is a dynamic leadership role responsible for managing and growing the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation’s (BRBF) core programs and events, including the Teen Court, Youth Education initiatives, Law Day, Holiday Star, Belly Up with the Bar fundraiser, and other outreach activities. This role blends program coordination with event management and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for bettering the Baton Rouge community, excellent communication and organizational skills, and an innovative spirit for developing impactful new programs and events that advance BRBF’s mission.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Youth Programs Oversight

  • Manage all aspects of the Baton Rouge Bar Association Teen Court and Youth Education programs.
  • Recruit, train, and support youth and adult volunteers, including attorneys, law students, and community members.
  • Schedule and conduct intake interviews with youth and families; manage case assignments and follow through until completion.
  • Organize and oversee Teen Court hearings, workshops, and educational activities.
  • Maintain accurate program records, case tracking, and reporting.
  • Continually strengthen partnerships with schools, courts, and community organizations to expand youth civic education.

Program & Event Management

  • Lead the planning, promotion, and execution of BRBF’s annual programs and events, including:
    • Law Day civic education events
    • Holiday Star charitable initiative
    • Belly Up with the Bar fundraiser
    • High School Mock Trial Competition
    • Other BRBF special events and community projects
  • Serve as the primary staff liaison for relevant BRBF committees, providing coordination, support, and communication.
  • Innovate new program ideas and fundraising events to expand BRBF’s community impact and resource base.
  • Oversee event logistics, volunteer coordination, vendor relationships, sponsorships, and participant outreach.

Community Engagement & Outreach

  • Actively recruit volunteers and donors to support BRBF programs and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, law firms, businesses, and civic organizations.
  • Represent BRBF at community events and speaking engagements to promote programs and recruit support.

Communications & Administration

  • Draft compelling written content, including promotional materials, grant proposals, reports, and volunteer communications.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Department to publicize programs and events through print, online, and social media channels.
  • Assist with grant writing, reporting, and identifying new funding opportunities.
  • Attend BRBF and BRBA committee meetings as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred background in nonprofit management, communications, education, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in program coordination, event planning, or community outreach.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Available for occasional evening and weekend work (Teen Court sessions, special events).
  • Passion for youth development, civic education, and community service.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience managing volunteers and coordinating events.
  • Familiarity with Baton Rouge community organizations and legal community a plus.
  • Comfort with public speaking and group facilitation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, event management platforms, and database systems.
