General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Financial Analyst to be part of its Financial Reporting team in our Chantilly, Virginia office.  The Financial Reporting team reports to the GDMS Controller and seeks to be a strategic business partner within the organization. Financial Reporting plays a critical role at GDMS as one of the primary liaisons with the General Dynamics Corporate office.  The position provides a unique opportunity for interaction with the Finance leadership team as well as the other functions across the GDMS business.  The Financial Analyst in Financial Reporting will be exposed to various aspects of the business and will influence decisions that impact the success of GDMS. 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience.

Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of GDMS financial results
  • Research technical accounting issues and implement newly-issued accounting literature and SEC rule-making across GDMS
  • Perform critical analysis of data from multiple lines of business / legal entities
  • Develop and implement recommendations to improve / streamline financial reporting processes
  • Prepare internal presentations on various accounting and finance topics for management
  • Consult with GDMS financial management across the various lines of business on technical accounting guidance
  • Various other special projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Familiarity with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) financial reporting requirements for public companies
  • Detailed understanding of financial analysis and financial reporting
  • Solid computer skills including MSExcel, MSWord, and MSPowerPoint
  • Sound verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate across the organization and work with teams
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, set priorities and handle multiple tasks
  • Fully proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Hybrid work available, located in Northern Virginia area desirable
