Associate, Digital Public Infrastructure - South Asia
Job Description
The Asia Group is now accepting applications for an Associate, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to join our South Asia practice in New Delhi. This position will support the Managing Director, and the broader South Asia practice based across New Delhi, Mumbai, and Washington D.C. on the South Asia project portfolio. The Associate role is offered as a full-time position.

Associates work closely with partner-led client teams and play key roles in supporting the firm’s research, analysis, and client engagement. The ideal candidate for this role will have substantial experience and expertise in the Digital Public Infrastructure landscape. In addition, a successful candidate will have a strong command of the political, regulatory, and macroeconomic environments in India, demonstrating the ability to distill these trends into actionable insights. Excellent writing skills, the ability to communicate professionally with external stakeholders, and a genuine desire to learn is a pre-requisite.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the South Asia team in servicing global clients through execution of high-value-added deliverables with a focus on Digital Public Infrastructure projects
- Actively participate in regular client engagements, including briefing sessions and workshops, alongside senior staff
- Conduct comprehensive research on existing DPI systems and government welfare schemes globally, with a particular focus on emerging economies in Southeast Asia and South Asia
- Analyze national and international policies related to social welfare programs and digital infrastructure, identifying best practices and potential areas for improvement
- Gather, analyze, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data from various sources to support project development
- Develop detailed research reports, white papers, and policy briefs that provide actionable insights to guide project planning and implementation
- Develop and implement detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones to ensure timely and successful execution
- Conduct interviews and liaise with key stakeholders, including government officials, policy experts, and industry leaders, to gather insights on welfare schemes and infrastructure
- Monitor trends in digital public infrastructure, social protection, and government benefit schemes to identify opportunities and potential risks
- Work closely with project managers, technical teams, and policy experts to ensure research aligns with the overall objectives of the project
- Collaborate with government agencies and interdisciplinary teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and cybersecurity specialists, to ensure the integration of secure, scalable, and user-centric digital solutions.
- Provide logistical and event support for client engagements in New Delhi
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or equivalent academic/practice experience related to India/South Asia economic, industry, and policy issues
- 3-5 years of prior work experience, preferably including in a client-servicing industry or government experience
- Strong understanding of and interest in emerging technologies, including AI and digital policy strategies
- Outstanding research, analytical, and writing skills
- Strong grasp of business strategy fundamentals, particularly in emerging markets
- Strong attention to detail and excels under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications – demonstrated fluency in Microsoft Excel and other statistical languages
- Sector-specific expertise in DPI related projects
- Experience in data visualization and design a plus
- Genuine desire to learn, including through feedback from senior team members and peers
- Team player with eagerness for professional development
- Demonstrated familiarity with Indian market dynamics and/or private sector experience, including industry, consulting, or other sectors
