Executive Director

Job Announcement: Executive Director – Colorado Wild Public Lands

Environmental Nonprofit (Public Lands Protection)

Location: Basalt, Colorado and/or Remote
 Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
 Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience

About Us:
Colorado Wild Public Lands is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to protecting and preserving public lands through grassroots advocacy, strategic partnerships, and policy initiatives. We focus on ensuring that public land exchanges are transparent and serve the public interest.  We operate as watchdogs to protect the quality of and access to public lands in Colorado.

Position Summary:
 We are seeking a passionate, visionary, and strategic Executive Director to lead our organization into its next chapter. The Executive Director will oversee day-to-day operations, guide policy and program strategy, cultivate donors and partners, and serve as the public face of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, education, and inspiration to the public, contractors, the Board, and volunteers
  • Advance conservation programs and campaigns
  • Fundraise from foundations, individuals, and grants
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, media, and elected officials
  • Ensure organizational health, compliance, and financial sustainability

     

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • A combination of educational background and leadership experience in environmental policy, public lands management, or non-profit advocacy 
  • Strong background in public lands, conservation, or environmental advocacy
  • Excellent fundraising, communication, and collaboration skills
  • A deep commitment to protecting public lands
