Lead People and Operations Officer

Position Overview
The Lead People and Operations Officer will play a critical role in overseeing and managing all HR functions at the Alliance. The incumbent will manage hiring, compensation, and staff benefits, support organizational culture, and process payroll. The Lead People and Operations Officer will also oversee and supervise the Alliance’s Operations Team, ensuring successful AmeriCorps member and host site recruitment, program compliance, and database management. This position will report directly to the Executive Director. This role will require a focus on both strategic and tactical operations. The ideal candidate for this position will have excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, strong computer and organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
Human Resource
- Oversee and manage all personnel and human resource functions, including managing all benefits, full-cycle recruitment and hiring processes, review and updating of job descriptions, and performance management regulatory requirements, and see that they are documented and implemented effectively
- Manage onboarding of new staff to ensure consistent and efficient processes, including creating and managing systems that allow for successful project continuation during staff transitions
- Create, oversee, and implement professional development for staff, both on an individual and organization wide basis
- Deliver annual employee engagement survey and strive for highest employee satisfaction
- Develop and ensure appropriate succession plans are in place for key roles
- Administer comprehensive and competitive compensation and benefits programs that attract, motivate, and retain individuals with competencies essential to support organizational values and achieve strategic goals
- Manage annual performance review, compensation review, and benefits renewal
- Manage all staff issues related to performance, and make recommendations to ED for resolving issues
- Serve as main internal contact for personnel related questions
- Process payroll and W2s, and serve as point of contact for payroll-related issues
- Create resources and training opportunities for staff serving in supervisory roles
- Determine staffing needs across the Alliance and identify creative solutions to meet emerging needs that foster better integration organization wide
Department Supervisor Support
- Manage AmeriCorps compliance (federal regulations, and internal policies and procedures) and supervise the Compliance and Operations Coordinator
- Support AmeriCorps recruitment efforts and supervise the AmeriCorps member and host site recruitment team
- Support Salesforce implementation and maintenance and supervise the Salesforce and Evaluation Manager
Cross Team Support
- Serve as a member of the internal Strategy Team
- Support teams in developing work plans
- Plan and support all staff meetings
- Oversee organizational goals and help monitor and track progress
- Support the Finance team (credit card management, check deposits, invoices, and contract review)
Organizational Support
- Manage general liability insurance policy and program
- Review and analyze computer, telecommunications, printing, and copying services and institute changes to achieve greater cost efficiencies
- Ensure the office space meets the needs of Alliance staff and meets state and federal accessibility requirement
- Manage contracts, including communication with general Alliance vendors
- Serve as staff point person to the Board Governance committee
- Oversee annual Board engagement survey and provide support to the Board to meet their annual goals
- Provide ongoing Board support as needed
- Support organizational efforts, projects, and events;
Requirements
- 6-8 years of experience in nonprofit management, business administration, human resources, or related field
- Education may be substituted for some of the above experience
- An understanding of the differential educational outcomes for Minnesota students and a passion for supporting student success
- Strong commitment to the Alliance's core values

- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate and build relationships

Typical Work Environment
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
- Able to work at a computer for up to 8 hours per day
- Able to work in an environment that is quiet but with many people demanding attention
- Able to frequently stand, walk, sit, and climb in performing duties in the office and for onsite and offsite meetings and events
- Able to maintain regular operation of normal office machines (telephone, computer, copier, and other office machines) is required
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work evenings and weekends for meetings and events, including quarterly overnight retreats
- Able to travel to community partner locations in the Twin Cities metro area and Greater MN
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range is $83,000 - $93,000, plus an excellent benefit package—40 hours per week/52 weeks per year.
Office located in St Paul, MN - Hybrid Work schedule is available.
